Shortly after that, I developed two necks for alto saxes based on the Buescher New Aristocrat neck design. Like all Bueschers, the left hand pinkie keys are noticeably heavier than on modern saxes. I’m sure that someone with smaller hands, or who played the instrument a lot could compensate, but I play alto the least of all my saxes, so I want an instrument that just fits me. I shall be very sorry to sell this sax, but it just doesn’t fit my big hands - the side keys are low (though they can be raised with extenders) and the pinkie keys are too close for me - I hit the edges of the keys instead of the middle. Most, but not all, of the pads have the original Buescher snap-on resonators. Some of the other pads are old, and will need replacing fairly soon, but it plays fine.
